Organisers of the annual MMM meeting invited to Prof. Ramirez to give a talk on Controlling magnetization dynamics in hybrid heterostructures with first-order phase transitions at the upcoming 61st Annual Conference on Magnetism and Magnetic Materials 2016 to be held at New Orleans.
We have completed a research visit to LCLS (part of SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory) to measure the ultrafast response of correlated oxide V2O3 via pulsed XRD after fentosecond laser pump. The visit was part of a collaboration with two groups @ UCSD (Prof. Oleg Spyrko and Prof. Ivan K. Schuller)

The Department of Physics at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia´s top ranked University, is seeking postdoctoral applicants to join one of our research groups. Our department has 6 very active research groups and an international atmosphere (more than 20% of professors) as well as significant interdisciplinary research projects and international collaborations.
A doctoral degree and a minimum of three indexed publications are required. Responsibilities include a light teaching load of one course per year. Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable but not a requirement. The candidate must have received his/her doctoral degree at most ten years prior to application date. Position is available in the fall of 2016. The initial appointment is for one year with a possibility of extension for one more year.
